Double-Gloving

Wearing two surgical gloves reduces the risk of needle sticks and sharp injuries6 that can lead to blood borne infections7. In fact, donning an interior glove can reduce exposure to patient blood by as much as 95% when the outer glove is punctured8.

  • Double gloving with a coloured under glove can increase perforation awareness from 12% to 56%9.
  • Doubling gloving can reduce infection risk by as much as 87% when the outer glove is punctured10.
